The purpose of this department is to equip students to comprehend the
history of the Christian church, to sense the significance of church history for
their ministries, and to evaluate theological movements and issues within the
history of the church and of Christian doctrine.
501 Church History I (The Ancient and Medieval Church) - 3 Cr. Hrs.
- A study of the church from Pentecost through the fourteenth century, with
emphasis on the development of orthodox and heterodox theology and significant
leaders and events.
502 Church History II (The Reformation, the Post-Reformation and the Modern
Church) – 3 Cr. Hrs.
- A study of the church in the Reformation, Post-Reformation and modern eras
with emphasis on the development of orthodox and heterodox theology and
significant leaders and events.
503 Indian Church History – 2 Cr. Hrs.
- A study of the church in India/Asia from its beginnings to the current day
with emphasis on the numerous influences that have forced the current
religious scene.
504 History of Doctrine - 2 Cr. Hrs.
- A study of the historical development of selected doctrines with attention
to the development of each theological theme from the church fathers to the
present day.
505 History of Roman Catholicism and Its Doctrines 2. Cr. Hrs
- A study of the historical development of Roman Catholicism with special
stress on the development of its theological system
506 Theology of Post-Nicean fathers
- A study on the post-Nicean fathers and their theological contribution
507 History of Charismatic movement
- A critical and historical study of the charismatic movement and its growth
and influence in Christendom today.
